The weather was not our friend for this practice. Luckily, House Gilchrest has indoor space so we can run his practice, rain or shine.
1. We started with 3 single death field battles as warm-ups; then another 4 as part of planned scenarios with CA. Since the terraine was sloped, each side swapped having the high ground.
2. We did a limited front, breach the gate style battle where defenders had 3 ressurections/2 lives and attackers had unlimited resurrections. The attackers had to breach a gate that as only about 3 fighters wide. This scenario was good as it forced shields and spears to work together and coordinate lanes with combat archers. It also required a well-timed charge in order to get through the gate.
3. We then did 2 Pennsic-style bridge battles. The first was for 3 minutes and the second was for 2 miutes. The first 2/3rds of the battle was unlimited resurrection with the last 1/3rd being no more rezzes. Both sides had the benefit of combat archery. If the center was contested at the end of time, it was fought out.
4. After that, some of us ran some authorizations (with prior KEM approval) while others did some triad drills. We also had pick-ups.
5. Finally, we ended the day with the Gilchrest post-fighting meal and merriment in the Gilchrest Tavern.
