Written Resources

While I was pregnant in 2017-2018 and not able to fight, I became motivated to create armored fighting resource material to share with others.  Here is my current catalogue of written materials (click on titles for handouts):

The Art of the SCA Melee, 2017 - My very first melee resource guide.  It was modeled after Lao Tzu's "The Art of War" with the intention of simplifying melee fighting concepts.

Tegan's Big Book of Melee Scenarios, 2018 - After fighting a while, I realized that most event melee scenarios fell into the same handful of categories.  This resource is my attempt to categorize scenarios and put spins on them to make them interesting.

Armored Melee Fighting for Women Handout, 2020 - This was a presentation I prepared for University based on survey results of women armored fighters.

Practice Best Practices, 2021 -  This is a quick and dirty resource on how to create a culture of inclusion for local fighter practices.

Tegan's Quickie Spear Clinic Handout, 2022 - This is another quick and dirty resource I prepared in connection with a spear class I taught for my local Barony.

Resources on Training Women/Gender Minority Fighters in the SCA, 2022 - This is a compilation of other available resources targeted to women and gender minority fighters.

Armored Fighting Melee Concepts 101 Handout, 2022 - This was a presentation for University that broke down melee fighting concepts in connection with the Pennsic 49 (2022) armored fighting scenarios (see across).

Gender Minority Armored Fighters: Navigating and Helping to Remove Invisible Barriers Handout, 2023 - This is the handout that accompanied a virtual University class containing practical solutions to make the sport of armored fighting more accessible for women and gender minority fighters.

Melee 101, 2024 - A handout that  accompanied a Melee 101 session I taught on October 27, 2024 at Ponte Alto's regular Sunday practice.
